How do I clean the Litter-Robot?
For a quick cleaning, you can use Litter-Robot cleaner wipes or spray (or any mild cleaning wipes or spray) to clean the inside and upper half of the globe without removing the litter.
For a more thorough cleaning, please follow these directions:
- Press the Empty button to cycle the globe clockwise, which will allow the litter to fall through the waste port and into the drawer for easy disposal. Sweep any leftover litter toward the waste port. Then, press any button to return the globe to the home position. Ensure that all litter has been removed from the globe—wet litter turns into messy clay!
- Turn the Litter-Robot off and unplug the unit.
- Remove the bonnet: Press and release the snap tabs on both sides of the bonnet, then lift and rotate the bonnet off of the globe and carefully set it aside.
- Remove the globe: With two hands, lift the globe off the base.
- Clean the globe with Litter-Robot cleaner or with water and a mild soap. There are no electronic components in the globe that can be damaged by soap and water. If the globe has become extremely dirty, it can be soaked and cleaned with a water hose. All other surfaces can be wiped clean, but should not be submerged. CAUTION: The base and bonnet of the Litter-Robot contain electrical components that should not be submerged.
- Let the globe dry completely before reassembling it to the base and attaching the bonnet.
How does the Litter-Robot work?
The Litter-Robot contains a weight-sensitive switch that detects when your cat enters and exits the unit. When your cat exits the Litter-Robot, a timer counts down, allowing the litter to clump before a clean cycle begins. The globe slowly rotates as the patented sifting process separates the clumps from the clean litter. The clumps are deposited into a carbon-filtered waste drawer below. The globe returns to the home position, leaving a clean bed of litter for the next use. All you have to do is empty the waste drawer when it’s full (indicated on the unit and the app), and add litter as needed.
How do I empty the Litter-Robot?
To empty the waste drawer, simply pull out the drawer, remove the waste drawer liner, and install a new bag. To empty all litter from the globe, press the Empty button, which will allow the litter to fall through the waste port and into the drawer for easy disposal. Just be sure to have a waste drawer liner installed before you press the Empty button.
How do I reset the Litter-Robot?
Simply press the Reset button to reset the Litter-Robot. Anytime you empty the waste drawer, add litter, or move the unit, we recommend pressing the Reset button.

How long does the Litter-Robot last?
At Whisker, we build our products to last a lifetime. We offer support for the first 12 months via warranty. You can also purchase an extended warranty for an additional 24 months. After 3 years, we offer repairs and parts for anything that happens to your unit. With proper maintenance (cleaning, changing the waste drawer, using clay-based clumping litter, etc.) the unit can last for years. In the event that something happens, we’re always here to help!
How do I set the Litter-Robot timer?
The Wait Time is the elapsed time starting from when your cat exits the globe until the unit starts a clean cycle. It can be set for 3, 7, or 15 minutes. Press and hold the Empty button on the Litter-Robot control panel for about 5 seconds to enter Wait Time setting mode. One of the lights will start flashing, indicating the current Wait Time setting. Use the Reset button to toggle to the next setting: blue for 3 minutes, yellow for 7 minutes, and red for 15 minutes. Press and hold the Empty button to save the setting. The blue light will blink to confirm, then return to standby.
